I really don't think it's a matter of perspective. There is a video about advocacy for people with disabilities. If the people making that video does't think that including people with disabilities in their video is important, what am I supposed to think about their sincerity?
Plus a video that suggests we "start" advocacy for people with disabilities that doesn't have any awareness of what we've already accomplished, hasn't been paying attention to my community.

I'm not suggesting that they aren't in a similar situation, but we're talking about a video that is supposed to be a promotion of this program. I think a video that is supposedly talking about advocacy for people with disabilities it doesn't have people with disabilities in the video and the only way we can know that is if they have a visible disability. It's a little like having a video in support of NAACP with only one African-American in the video. There is a conceptual disconnect.,

"Visibly disabled"? What is that supposed to mean? I have mild cerebral palsy and I can move, walk and talk just like any other person. I only have to concentrate more on doing those things normally. How do you know that one of those people who aren't "visibly disabled" are not in a similar situation?

I think it is all about perspective. There are those who are advocates for people with disabilities and those who are self-advocates. We are here to help shape people with disabilities into self-advocates and help people with disabilities define a future for themselves without relying on others. I'm sorry as a person with a disability I find this video appalling. "Start the conversation"?! The rehab act was passed and 1973? The ADA in 1990. We should be way past starting. Having only one visibly disabled person in a video about people with disabilities isn't acceptable. And we as a movement are way past due in dealing with racial issues. One person of color in the whole video? I think this video makes it clear you don't have a clue.
